PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY

In addition to our studio-wide dance theatre production each year, advanced students may audition for The Ballet School of Vermont's newly formed student company: Northern Vermont Ballet Company. Northern Vermont Ballet was formed in response to a growing number of requests for BSVT dancers to perform at community events. Our Performance Schedule lists upcoming engagements.

PLACEMENT for NVB

En Pointe students must be enrolled in Mon, Tues, Th, Sat EP/NVB Co. Classes for eligibility to audition for NVB roles/pieces. Pointe Prep and B3 level students may be invited to participate in Co. classes and performances. NVB dancers must sign a commitment contract for each role/piece. Missed or unexcused class/rehearsals will result in dismissal from role/piece.

RECREATIONAL DANCERS

Dancers not able to participate in the minimum number of classes in levels B2 and up may register for individual classes. Tuitions will be single per class rate (PCR), not the discounted program rate (DPR). Families understand that not taking the minimum number of classes may impede upon the growth of the student's technique at the rate the rest of the class level is progressing; which in turn may affect their placement level. From the very beginning levels in ballet training the female dancer is being trained to dance in pointe shoes. The recreational dance student is training for enrichment or other related body conditioning purposes, not necessarily for their pointe shoes.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Private ballet lessons or coaching can be scheduled through the director. Please email Jenny@TheBalletSchoolOnline.com for pricing information.

"I love dancing at The Ballet School because it makes me feel confident. I love how all the teachers care so much about us, and how they are so involved - they actually teach us! All of the students are so excited to be at BSDA, it creates a wonderful atmosphere in the school.Everyone loves to learn, and everything we do learn helps us grow to be confident and strong."

-Audrey, En Pointe Student

Ballet training gives children discipline, presence and posture. It creates a very effective memory and coordinates the body very well. Ballet has been studied and compared to other sports and it is one of the hardest physical activities. Not only is it a complete discipline, mentally engaging and physically challenging; it is also artistic because of the music and the lines created by the body.

-Maryellen Vickery, BSVT Director

I have two daughters attending The Ballet School of Vermont and I couldn't be more happy with the level of training they are getting. Maryellen Vickery is both a talented artist and an excellent teacher. She brings ballet and all its nuances alive for all her students. Maryellen teaches from a warm heart while keeping a clear eye towards accuracy and discipline. The end of year performances provide an opportunity unmatched in this area. They allow the students to experience what its like to participate in a ballet with exacting expectations and beauty. The sense of accomplishment at having participated in a performance of that caliber will last a lifetime.
